Your Choices Stay Yours.

Optional Google Analytics and Google Maps stay off until you choose them. You can change your choices at any time.

The Default Experience

You can browse this website without enabling any optional services. Google Analytics measures visits only after you accept Analytics. Google Maps loads only after you enable Maps. We do not load advertising pixels or remote fonts. Website fonts and images are served locally.

The Analytics tag is also disabled in staging and preview versions of this website.

Essential Editor Session

The private sign-in page uses a session cookie to protect authorised access. It is not used to track ordinary visitors. It normally lasts for the browser session; the editor requires sign-in again after 30 minutes of inactivity or eight hours from sign-in. Ordinary public browsing does not start an editor session.

Technical details: the cookie is named hwd_editor. It uses HttpOnly and SameSite protection and is sent securely over HTTPS on the hosted website.

Remembering Your Choice

We save your separate Analytics and Maps choices in your browser’s local storage on this device for 180 days. This browser record remembers your privacy preferences; it is not an advertising cookie. It includes the preference version, your choices, the Analytics tag identifier, and the decision and expiry times.

We check the choice when a page opens, regains focus or reaches its expiry. An expired choice turns optional services off and asks you to choose again. If local storage is unavailable, we use session storage for that browser tab where possible. If neither works, the choice applies only to the current page visit.

Technical details: the local-storage record is named hwd_privacy_v2; the session-storage fallback is hwd_privacy_v2_visit. An earlier Maps-only preference never permits Analytics. Changing the Analytics tag requires a fresh Analytics choice.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics helps us understand visits and website use. Its script and measurement requests remain blocked until you enable Analytics. We use one GA4 tag. Analytics is also disabled on enquiry validation and confirmation pages.

Analytics receives technical device and browsing information. It uses first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visits, configured here with a 180-day lifetime. Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in our website tag. We do not send enquiry-field values or search-query strings as custom Analytics events.

Google describes its processing in its Privacy Policy and Cookie Information. Maps and Analytics have separate choices. Analytics account-level retention and other settings are separate from the cookie lifetime.

Optional Google Maps

Google Maps is off until you accept it or save an enabled map choice. No map frame, Google script, preconnection or map request is added before permission. Once enabled, Google may process technical information and set cookies under its own policies. Google cookie names and lifetimes can vary with your browser, location and account.

Our site does not use these cookies for advertising or measurement. See Google Privacy Policy and Google Cookie Information for Google’s information.

Changing Your Mind

Use Cookie Settings in the footer to change Analytics and Maps independently at any time. Reject Optional turns both off. Withdrawing Maps permission removes the embedded map. Withdrawing Analytics permission disables measurement, updates the loaded tag’s consent state, removes accessible first-party Analytics cookies and reloads the page to end the loaded tracking library when the refusal can be remembered. If your browser prevents all preference storage, measurement is disabled in the current page instead. The saved refusal keeps Analytics blocked on future pages. Changes also apply to other open tabs on this website that can share local storage.

This does not erase information already processed by Google or delete cookies on Google’s own domains. Use your browser’s cookie controls or Google’s privacy controls for those. An external link to Google Maps opens Google’s own website and its rules apply.

We treat withdrawal as a request for erasure of information we hold under that consent, subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions. Client-side cookie controls do not themselves delete historical provider records; this needs the relevant provider and data-rights process. Contact info@hampshirewebdesign.net if you need help identifying the relevant records or exercising your rights. A separate erasure request is not required simply because you withdrew consent.

Editor Content and Offline Storage

When an authorised editor copies a page, section or element, the editor stores that content in this browser so it can be pasted elsewhere. A copy expires after 24 hours of use. Expired or earlier unbounded copies cannot be pasted and are removed when accessed. Signing out or opening the sign-in page clears copied content. If the browser is closed, an expired record may remain physically stored until the editor next reads or clears it.

The offline HTML editor also keeps local drafts and recovery data so you can resume editing. Use its reset or download controls to manage those records; clearing browser site data removes local copies. Offline drafts are separate from the hosted website and are not automatically published. These storage features support requested editing and recovery; they are not advertising or visitor tracking.

Technical details: the copied-content record is named website-builder-clipboard-v1. Keep shared devices secure and sign out after editing.

Recovering Unsaved Website Edits

If you enable Browser recovery, the signed-in website builder can keep a recovery copy of unsaved page or header and footer edits in your browser’s local storage. This supports the editing service you requested and is separate from visitor Analytics and Maps choices. It does not store your password, SMTP credentials or contact-form submissions. Recovery copies are scoped to the owner account and installation, expire after 24 hours, and are cleared when saved or when you sign out. Expired records are removed when the editor next opens. Clearing browser site data removes these copies; recovery may be unavailable if browser storage is blocked or full. The recovery preference is remembered for up to 180 days and is cleared when you sign out. You can turn it off and clear copies from Browser recovery in the editor. Use a trusted device and sign out after editing.
